Welcome to Presence! And also my first blog!
This is Imane, the founder of Presence, and I thought I’d take 5 minutes to tell you the three main reasons I set up Presence.
1. Bring the joy and healing of hypnosis to more people
I really wanted to make the benefits of hypnosis available to a wider audience in a safe and convenient way.
How many of you are scared of hypnosis?
I know I was before I tried it for the first time.
In fact, as an experience, it was a bit of a let down! I kept waiting for something dramatic to happen!
It was during my first course in hypnosis. Our trainer – Bel Rogers who you can meet right here on Presence – chose me for the demonstration session. I’d been having problems speaking in public and she did a session to take away my fear of public speaking. I kept waiting to be ‘hypnotised’, but all that was happening was that I was becoming more and more relaxed and more and more alert. Was that it? I thought afterwards, I expected to go out like a light or feel I’d been taken over, or something of that sort…, but not at all. And it worked, as from that moment on I was able to speak in front of others without any problems.
The state of trance is very natural and very familiar. It’s also a state of ease and comfort. Bel likes to call it a massage for the mind, and that’s very apt.
2. Create space in busy minds
In my practice as a hypnosis and regression therapy practitioner, I am more and more aware of how anxious and stressed people are. Hardly a week goes by without me hearing that someone is in burn-out, whereas a decade ago it was so rare. People complain of being so busy, of running around without any time for anything, minds whizzing from one thing to another all the time. All kinds of things point to a need for more space in our minds – and hypnosis does this beautifully. It’s a chance to make time to rest the mind as well as the body, and this is something we all desperately need. We all need more rest, not just physical rest but mental, emotional, spiritual, social, sensory and creative rest and hypnosis can provide all seven.
3. Self-Work made easy
And most importantly, it’s about creating an accessible and easy way into self-work. I initially wanted to write self-care, but that means different things to different people. Ditto therapy, so I’ve gone for self-work. Just like you’d go to the gym to keep in good physical shape, so you need regular self-work to keep your mental health in good shape. We recommend two sessions a month as a baseline, but a session a week, or combining our group sessions with individual sessions is what really works tremendously well.
And here is a quick word on what we are not. We are not clinicians or medics. Our sessions do not replace medical or clinical care in any way, nor are they psychotherapy. What we provide is personal development and healing. Our approach is holistic and spiritual. It is not for everyone – and please do book a free consultation with me, be it just for a short chat or for a full seven keys assessment, to help you decide if Presence is for you. Spoiler alert: I am brutally honest in telling people whether our sessions are suited for them or not!
One last thing…
Mental health is not sexy. People would rather spend their time and money on things that sound more fun, so we try hard to make our sessions enjoyable, not in a let’s go party kind of way, but in a let’s chill for a moment and send each other some love!
I often take part as a participant in other people’s sessions on Presence and I enjoy them so much. Join us!
